What about medication?
I
personally like Prozac for what it does for my level of functioning,
but I suspect other SSRI's would work just as well. However, along
with increasing my level of function, it also increases my awareness
of the internal torture caused by explosive sounds such as cars
honking, and also the crowd noise. It also makes me more aware of my
tactile sensitivity. So I like the herb Valium because it helps my
anxiety and calms my seizure activity related difficulties.
Yes, most definitely. My personal favorite therapeutic music is harp music, specifically Georgia Kelly. My senses can be so confused and my mind so clouded, but when I put on Ms Kelly for half an hour, it works wonders for me. There are other great harpists out there, so any of them would probably work as well. I have known some individuals with severe multiple sclerosis to take up playing the harp in order to distract themselves from the pain, and discovered it actually took the pain away for up to 24-36 hours at a time.
